Job Description

This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite weekly.

This role requires an experienced engineer to lead and drive a cross-functional product development team including collaboration with the following groups:

Within Engineering -

Interior Roof and Trim Systems
Body Systems
Power and Signal Distribution Systems
Outside of Engineering -

Creative Design
Purchasing
Manufacturing
Quality
The ideal candidate is one who desires to build their technical depth as an engineer responsible for automotive electrical components while demonstrating their strong communication and project management skills with a passion for taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions. We are seeking innovative engineers who can help shape the future of Automotive Interior Electrical Systems for GM.

Additional Job Description

Education Required:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical with Electrical Experience)
Experienced Required:

3 or more years of experience with developing and executing technical solutions for electrical / mechanical components to support new vehicle programs
Balancing business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing
Communicating information to and from internal and external customer organizations
Working knowledge of automotive electrical schematic drawings
Preferred Skills:

Injection molded plastic design knowledge
Familiarity with structured problem solving methods such as:
Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) process
Red-X
Kepner-Tregoe (KT)
Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Establish and create electrical component design requirements
