Job description

We are actively seeking a high energy and self-motivated Human Resources professional to join our growing Managed Human Resources (MHR) team in Washington, DC. The HR Manager is a client based position and is part of a team of HR professionals who work together to service the HR needs of our clients. This position is responsible for performing full scope human resources services that span the life cycle of an employee. Each client engagement will be different depending on the services desired by each client and depending upon each client's culture and HR processes and systems. Types of services we provide to clients include benefits administration, payroll processing, onboarding/off boarding, employee relations, policy development, compliance, recruiting, employee surveys, FLSA audits, HR consultation to client leadership, on-site hours, and project work such as: HR audits/assessments; policy development, employee handbook creation/revision; compensation benchmarking; and, any other projects or HR related activities that a client needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the first line of contact with clients and manages the day-to-day HR operations as specified in our scope of services agreement with each client.
  • Provides benefits administration to include enrollment, change reporting, COBRA administration, invoice reconciliation, annual renewal activities and being the liaison between employees and the benefits broker/ insurance carriers.
  • Informs clients and colleagues of changes to or non-compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws so that clients maintain compliance.
  • Processes payroll using a third party payroll platform; manages the timekeeping system (if applicable); answers payroll related questions of employees and clients; and, ensures accurate completion of W-2 wage statements.
  • Drafts policies for clients that comply with applicable employment laws and that suit the workplace culture of the clients' organizations.
  • Provides on-site support to clients as needed.
  • Participates in initiatives that improve the Managed HR Services department.
  • Supports other Managed HR Services team members with their work load as needed.
  • Contributes ideas, knowledge and past experiences to the Managed HR Services team to help the team continue to evolve and grow to accommodate additional client engagements and team members.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, experience, certifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or other related education, and a minimum of seven years' relevant experience or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM - SCP strongly desired. Other HR certifications a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws and HR trends and changes.
  • Required computer skills: strong Excel skills, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, HRIS platforms, and payroll platforms.
  • Independent thinking; self-assessing and self-correcting behaviors.
  • Ability to use systems by conceptualizing and implementing needed processes.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Must work well independently in a matrixed environment.
