Summary

This position is located in the Deputy to the Chairman & Chief Operating Office, Division of Administration, Human Resources Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of maintaining a sound Corporate classification program.

Duties
  • Maintains the Corporate classification program utilizing US OPM guidelines and Corporate policies and delegations as appropriate.
  • Works with Division/Office managers, administrative staff, subject matter experts and others to develop, classify and establish new and revised position descriptions, using appropriate Federal and Corporate position classification standards, practices and methodologies.
  • Performs classification desk audits in response to formal requests from management and/or employees.
  • Advises on Federal and Corporate regulations, policies, practices, and procedures; reviews and analyzes questions, issues and problems from a position management and position classification perspective; and provides appropriate advice and recommendations, including alternatives.
  • Reviews and analyzes proposals for reorganizations or establishment of new organizations submitted through HRB for approval.
  • Uses a variety of automated Corporate HR systems and standard automated software to input, update and maintain position classification and position management data, and to generate various reports.
  • Establishes and maintains various position description, classification and position management files and records, in both electronic and manual (paper) formats.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with Division/Office administrative staff, management officials, and other HR offices.
  • Prepares formal comments and recommendations for use by senior HRB management.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience interpreting and applying Federal HR position classification standards, conducting position audits, preparation of classification appeal decisions, analysis of major reorganization proposals, and implementation of new standards or job evaluation guidelines.
