Job description
Hardware
Knowledge of Midrange/High-end HPE ProLiant and Blade servers, HPE Converged systems (CS500, CS900) and SDX2 (Superdome2)
Various options of booting the server from GRUB Prompt
Upgrade Firmware of various components
Vendor Co-ordination & follow-up with Hardware Vendors for the troubleshooting and the maintenance activities
Knowledge on P2V (Physical to Virtual) and V2P (Virtual to Physical) migration activities
General Responsibility
Adhering to SLAs
ITIL Processes awareness and adhering to
Helping team members in case of Issues/Technical Problems
Handling Incidents, Service requests, Change and Problem Tickets (RCA and CAPA)
Troubleshooting technical issues
Ensuring that the processes are adhered to
Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
Implementing new technologies and design changes
Applying patches/upgrades to maintain security level
Assist in implementation of Data center consolidation
Health check-up of Linux servers
Defining parameters and threshold for server proactive health monitoring
Day-to-Day reporting tasks
Vendor co-ordination & follow-up
Perform H/W & performance monitoring and implement recommendations
Operating System
Upgrade the OS, VxVM, HP Service Gurad using offline and Live methods
Configuration and Administration of RHEL4, RHEL5, RHEL6 and RHEL7 Virtual and Physicalservers
Backup and restore of OS (working knowledge with Backup Teams using Snapshot or BMR)
Operating System Hardening
Knowledge of system security, knowledge of SELinux would be an advantage
Knowledge of device driver installation and configuration
Knowledge of NAS, SAN storage, HBA cards and multipathing
Configuring Multipathing software on server to access redundant storage paths
NAS Configuration in Client side only
Good knowledge of Linux device files and creation
Build knowledge of atleast one cluster technology (RHCS/HP Service guard/VCS/RAC)
Good knowledge of Oracle RAC cluster in Linux
Knowledge of Cluster Package Build, Stop, Start, Failover, Failback and other maintenance activities Knowledge of build and manage the Disaster Recovery setup in any one of the cluster technology
