Job description

Our team seeks an experienced Public Affairs Specialist. In this role, you will research, produce, review, and consult on a variety of communications materials. The successful candidate will be an expert writer who can easily balance multiple tasks. Prior public affairs experience with government clients is a plus.

Youre poised and approachable, able to work independently and in partnership with senior executives/employees, and confident in offering counsel to clients. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are able to reprioritize quickly and meet changing deadlines.

Responsibilities
The Public Affairs Specialist primarily performs, but is not limited to, the following duties:

* Support the development and review of communication products for clarity, effectiveness, and alignment with executive leadership guidance.
* Research, write, edit, and review products (such as press releases, fact sheets, talking points, and presentations), ensuring the messaging is aligned with the organizations overall strategic communications objectives.
* Convey information about complex programs and functions in a manner interpretable by a wide range of audiences.
* Provide recommendations on timing and priority of speaking engagements/events in close coordination with the client.
* Perform daily media monitoring for coverage related to the customer and topics of interest.

Requirements

The position requires on-site work in the District of Columbia for a Federal Government client. Occasional domestic travel (less than 10%) may be required based on operational needs. Candidates must have a current Top Secret security clearance and be SCI eligible (i.e., possess SCI or have had SCI in the last 24 months).

Work Experience and Skills

* Bachelors or advanced degree with 5+ years of work experience.
* Skilled at drafting, coordinating, and evaluating communications and outreach strategies.
* Possess excellent communication and writing skills.
* Self-starter with the ability to take direction from various stakeholders, establish priorities, and work both independently and as part of a team.
* Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn about complex, highly technical topics. Openness to new perspectives, ideas, and analytical methodologies.
