About the Role
Our Corporate Affairs team is seeking a team member responsible for leading Workday's government relations efforts supporting public sector business enablement and engaging on procurement and IT modernization policy. Are you looking for a new role at a growing enterprise cloud company at time of increased interest in cloud migration? This role will seek to help shape the procurement environment and drive awareness and confidence in Workday's approach. This opportunity will include joining a dynamic government relations team with a bias for action, working closely with our Legal, Compliance, & Corporate Affairs colleagues, and direct involvement with the public sector sales and integration teams.
Located in Washington, DC and reporting to the Head of North America Public Policy, the principal responsibilities of this position include:
- Growing relationships and a "trusted advisor" role with a broad range of lawmakers & administration officials associated with government oversight and operations, procurement policy, and government IT policy to advance Workday's position in the marketplace,
- Participating in the administrative and legislative process, including the development and implementation of thoughtful strategies to build business enablement opportunities,
- Supporting Workday's public sector sales and integration teams in all relevant aspects of the sales and product deployment process and facilitating tactical approaches to opportunity engagement,
- Crafting high profile events and opportunities for key executives to promote Workday's thought leadership related to procurement policy, IT modernization, and workforce and financial management issues,
- Handling external consultants and developing and partnering with trade association staff, integration partners, and procurement and government IT policy specialists, and
- Ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies, including Workday's Code of Conduct.
About You
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience including in the public sector procurement process or government IT policy, including but not limited to: administrative agency processes, Congressional appropriations, Congressional oversight.
- 4+ years of experience in policy development and engaging and influencing regulators, legislators, and administration officials or experience using engagement and the policy process to advance business goals is required.
- Experience in public sector procurement policy, recent government IT modernization efforts, and technology industry sales cycles.
- Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and Workday policies and procedures.
Other Qualifications
- Familiarity with technology with a focus on cloud computing, SaaS, enterprise software is helpful.
- Ability to assist in prioritizing business opportunities and support the public sector sales team in creating and executing a federal business pipeline.
- Strong oral and written communication skills - from one page policy summaries to in-depth policy analyses.
- Ability to analyze the federal budget and use the annual appropriations process to identify short-, medium- and long-term procurement opportunities.
- Detail orientated and can balance results-oriented priorities while running multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to self-start and deliver in a fast-paced environment in a timely manner as well as possess excellent judgment and a sense of humor.
- Familiarity with issues and policies impacting the federal workforce and federal financial management and planning.
