Lendzi is actively searching for a self-motivated individual to join our growing team as a Senior Underwriter for merchant cash advance business loans. Lendzi is a leader in the FinTech space and is a direct lender that caters to small and mid-sized businesses through technology-driven financing. We will provide you with all the tools and support needed to achieve success; both professionally and financially. As Senior Underwriter you will play a pivotal role on our credit risk underwriting team by making credit decisions and managing our credit portfolio.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Primarily, you will underwrite. Analyze bank/credit card statements, analyze tax returns, and analyze credit reports
- Apply appropriate underwriting criteria to applications following published credit policy to ensure financial exposure is properly mitigated
- Read and analyze credit reports, merchant processing statements, bank statements, and financial statements to determine merchant's ability to support the exposure associated with their business type and requested parameters.
- Gather due diligence data from various locations, including but not limited to, third party vendor websites, the internet, client obtained data, etc to make approval/denial decisions within guidelines.
- Communicate timely with sales agents/offices to resolve pending items required for the approval of the application.
- Maintain an understanding of current, new and emerging fraud and risk trends within the industry.
- Identify gaps in processes, opportunities for improvement and assist in the development, training, and implementation.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Extraordinary computer skills to monitor the underwriting departments deal flow and third-party workflow, as well as evaluating client applications.
- Exceptional people skills to communicate with sales, management, and third-party contractors.
- Performing extensive due diligence searches on each client submission that is eligible for an offer, including lien searches, landlord verifications, order credit reports, and background searches.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in MCA underwriting OR 2+ years in Commercial Banking Underwriting
- Proficient knowledge in underwriting functions, an in-depth understanding of credit reports, income statements, balance sheets and tax returns
- Advanced problem-solving skills and excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Studies focused in Accounting, Finance, and/or Economics is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements, cash flow, industry, and competitive analysis and projections.
- Proficiency with Excel and data interpretation are a must; familiarity with Adobe and CRM platforms would be a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000-$85,000
