Job description

We are looking for a self-motivated Financial Controller to bring their previous success of implementing and managing finance and accounting reports to our private jet startup. You will work alongside our Senior Management to ensure we have systems setup to manage accounting and finance. Once those systems are in place, you'll implement and execute those systems to ensure they are running as efficiently and effectively as possible. We are a fast-paced environment focused on revolutionizing private aviation.

MISSION of Role

Develop, maintain, and improve our Finance and Accounting systems to enhance our financial decision-making to support our rapid growth.

OUTCOMES of Role (Expected within 3 months of being hired)

1. Establish and implement Group accounting policies, financial controls, and systems to support a day 10 month end.
2. Produce monthly Volato's consolidated financials and monthly management reports including budget analysis
3. Work alongside other business units, including IT and Operations, to create efficient systems for: revenue recognition, billing and invoicing.
4. Map out quarterly one-year roadmap of our Financial and Accounting goals (including quarterly OKRs)

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Previous Controller experience, ideally in a venture capital backed early stage or growth companies in a prior Controller role.
2. Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting; MBA a plus.
3. CPA required. Other management accounting qualifications a plus.
4. Experience building and leading a world-class accounting team and infrastructure in a highly entrepreneurial, rapidly growing environment.
5. Experience launching ERP systems and driving change management with Product, IT, and Tax teams.
6. Experience with Quickbooks, Bill.com, Microsoft Office.
7. Strong ability to coach, mentor and develop team members.
8. Proven success leading through change.
9. Ability to design and implement processes that are scalable.
10. Strong problem solving and analytical skills and customer orientation.
11. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal) and partnership skills.
12. Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, current trends and developments.
13. Industry and early stage company experience highly valued.

STRONGLY ENCOURAGED:

1. Prior Aviation Experience is a plus
2. You're extremely well organized and love setting up systems and frameworks
3. You're not only great at organizing the systems, but also executing them to ensure they are completed (ex: you're not only great at setting an agenda for a team meeting, but also ensure the tasks have been delegated and followed up on, to ensure they were properly executed)
4. You have previous experience successfully implementing and managing an Accounting or Finance Department
5. You know there is always a solution, you just need to dig deeper.
6. You know people can sometimes become efficient at the wrong things. Therefore, you ensure you and the team remain focused at being efficient on only the most important priorities to be effective, not just efficient.
