Job Description
A key to our enduring success is our sincere and thorough effort to do the right thing for our customers, employees, communities, investors, and the environment. This position will help Herc Rentals advance its sustainability and investor relations initiatives.
The Manager, Sustainability & Investor Relations will be based in Bonita Springs, FL and will help support the company's strategic objectives related to reporting on the company's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programs and its investor relations initiatives. This newly formed position requires a basic understanding of financial markets, financial analysis, ESG and sustainability concepts, communications frameworks, and an ability to manage data and work cross functionally.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to the following activities:
Sustainability
- Manages tracking and reporting of key performance indicators related to all ESG matters, including but not limited to climate change, diversity and inclusion, governance, and environmental sustainability priorities.
- Collects and maintains sustainability/ESG data.
- Supports the writing, design, and overall development of the company's Sustainability/ESG reporting, sustainability rating and reporting agencies/frameworks, individual customer reporting requirements, and our annual company sustainability report and website content.
- Tracks and keep abreast of global regulatory developments and changes to reporting standards and best in class corporate behavior
- Monitors the sustainability rating agencies' assessments and benchmarking of the company to enhance disclosures and provide recommendations on the frameworks and reporting methods the company should pursue.
- Tracks and coordinates responses to sustainability requests from investors, retail customers, and regulators.
- Assists in the planning and development of ESG information on the corporate website and internal intranet
- Ad hoc projects and assigned duties as necessary.
Investor Relations
- Manages the company's investor relations programs deliverables and supports interactions with investors
- Works with other corporate departments in the collection of data, analysis, writing, and production of investor relations deliverables
- Develops a thorough understanding of the company by partnering with finance functional areas (including external reporting, financial planning and analysis, and treasury) to understand drivers of financial results and the financial planning process, and with field operations and strategic sales and pricing to understand the company's strategy, businesses, regulatory and competitive landscape.
- Creates routine analyses and reports such as targeting reports, comparative financial and stock price performance, and analysis of share ownership vrsus institutional targeting.
- Supports the IRO regarding ongoing program requirements and special projects:
- Oversees the capital markets database and intelligence system that supports the investor relations program's targeting and tracking.
- Tracks changes in analyst estimates on Bloomberg and FactSet and through issuance of new sell-side reports.
- Attends and supports investor meetings.
- Develops and maintains IR and Sustainability website content.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of three to five years of experience in sustainability, financial analysis, and/or portfolio management
- Understanding of financial markets and financial analysis
- Candidate must have analytic problem-solving skills with an understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- General understanding of environmental, social and governance (ESG) concepts, with a passion for sustainability
- Familiarity with key reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB) and leading ESG rating platforms (MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, Eco Vadis)
Educational Background
Bachelor's degree required within a business or technical field (Finance, Economics, Sustainability or Accounting, preferred)
Conditions of Employment
- CFA certification candidacy would be added plus
- GRI or SASB Certification would be ideal, but not necessary

- Ability to quickly pick up expertise in working in business intelligence, data and third-party systems

- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
