Description
JOB SUMMARY: Following established methods and procedures, operates standard or specialized machinery to support the assembly floor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads blueprints, work orders, manuals, production schedules, diagrams, and schematics and receives verbal instructions regarding sequence, procedure, and equipment to be used.
Sets up and operates machine and/or equipment to automatically mold, press, print, cut, weld, bore, thread or solder products or components to specifications.
(Machines include Bobbin coil winder/tester, SMT solderer, Pad printer, Tube winder, Dial printer, Robotic soldering machine, Fuel sender welder, and others.)
Observes operation of the machine and verifies conformance of machined workpieces to quality standards and specifications.
Must be able to detect defective parts, troubleshoot machine malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments to reduce scrap.
Performs basic preventive maintenance on the equipment and follows all safety, security, and personal protection equipment procedures.
Accurate completion of paperwork associated with the operation, testing, and output of machined components.
Confers with supervisors, technicians, engineers, and others regarding testing procedures and results, and for assistance in resolving problems.
Other duties may be assigned. Expected to be available to work in other areas of production and must be able to work overtime when required (including short notice over time) to meet daily customer demands.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or one-year certificate from a technical school; one-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions and diagrams, including safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak and write clearly in English and effectively exchange information.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to set up and use computers to enter, access, or retrieve data.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge and use of hand and measuring tools
Ability to follow instructions and meet productivity standards
Familiarity with part numbers and their usage

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the employee to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) and to walk. The employee is required to regularly use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, bend, kneel and crouch and lift or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally the employee may need to lift or move up to 50 pounds (with assistance if necessary). Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is in a manufacturing plant. The employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes or dust. The noise level is usually moderate.
