Human Resources Director

Reports to the SVP of Human Resources

Position Overview:

The Human Resources Director will be responsible for executing strategies to support a high-performing and engaged workforce. The incumbent will have primary responsibility for culture and engagement, employee relations, performance management, new hire onboarding, compensation, and compliance. The HR Manager will support AKAM's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) into our work and workplace and ensure that policies and practices across the organization are fully aligned.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Consult with management, providing HR guidance when needed. Serve as liaison between employees and management to address and resolve employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations. Educate management to ensure consistent interpretation and enforcement of policies.
  • Lead the performance management process to ensure a high-performing workforce that delivers on business objectives. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Work closely with management and employees to build the culture, instill values, measure and improve employee engagement, provide recognition, and support DE&I initiatives.
  • Partner with Recruitment and management to ensure the effective onboarding of new hires.
  • Manage compensation changes including merit increases, promotions, and other adjustments. Work with HR Generalist to provide oversight and backup on payroll and benefits administration.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures, and knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, HIPAA, and EEO laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with human resource information systems, learning management systems, applicant tracking systems, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience with a small or medium-sized multi-site company.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related area.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.


Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
