Job Summary

The Business Analyst is responsible for managing the day-to-day support tasks of the shoreside applications. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of their business strategy, processes, services, roadmap, and the context in which the business operates. This role will be key in understanding and documenting the capabilities needed to address business challenges. This Business Analyst is responsible for interfacing with key stakeholders; translating business requirements; managing multiple projects as well as analyzing and troubleshooting software problems and recommend viable solutions.

Essential Functions
  • Elicit and document business requirements, while being able to distinguish between needs and wants; identify gaps between business needs and standard application functionality; design and document solutions that fill the gaps; and provide detailed business or technical requirements specifications to System Administrator/ developer.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation and consider compliance in all business process analysis and redesign activities.
  • Coordinate and assist in end user training documentation and deliver training to users as required.
  • Configure business rules in Reservation System and perform minimal application and security administration functions.
  • Identify business unit's strengths and weaknesses and suggest areas of improvement.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in Information Systems and apply this to the development, execution and improvement of action plans by providing advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices
  • Evaluate requests from business units to determine current and future system capabilities and recommend changes to the system, taking into consideration the global impact of those changes.
  • Follow the change control process and ensure proper methodology and implementation, including but not limited to: training, communication and implementation.
  • Lead testing efforts by ensuring that risks are identified, tracked, reported on and mitigated in a timely manner.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  • Design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of computer systems or programs based on and related to user or system design specifications or machine operating systems
  • Application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications
  • Lead small to mid-size projects; assisting other project managers on larger more complex projects related to operational business functions that affect team members and providers at the market level, as needed.

Competency

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • PPM certification a plus
Experience:
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in business process design or requirements gathering and translating business requirements for development; or experience as Business Analyst with technical skills. Travel or cruise Reservation System/Website support experience highly preferred.
  • Communicates effectively and possess the ability to learn new concepts quickly; comfortably engages with a multi-disciplinary group to create a shared understanding; listens, writes, and speaks to business requirements from stakeholders.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Smartsheets and Concept Draw (Optional)
  • SQL and SPL (optional)
  • Database administration (optional)
  • Agile development including SCRUM methodology (Preferred)
  • SharePoint 365 a plus
  • JIRA - preferred
  • Working knowledge of or ability to learn reservation system and other applications used throughout the enterprise. Working knowledge of applicable policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks. Must be able to work well under pressure while meeting strict deadlines and maintaining high quality of work. Must be accurate and detail oriented to maintain high standards of precision when creating and updating documentation. Must be able to assist other team members as priorities and deadlines change for the department.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills to assist with a myriad system issues and answer questions regarding product set-up. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Critical thinking skills sufficient to identify, assess and recommend technical or business process change solutions. Ability to understand the components of SDLC.
  • Ability to understand business issues and data challenges of business areas and systems. Ability to consistently deliver high-quality services to assigned business areas.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively based on business area needs.
  • Ability to monitor production issues and ensure issues are resolved appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to provide options to business areas when needed to achieve business goals.
  • Must be available to work during off hours, weekends and holidays, according to business demands.
