Since its founding thirty-plus years ago, The Beacon Council has assisted nearly 1,300 companies, helped create over 65,000 jobs in the community and helped bring $4.59 billion in new capital investment into the community.


POSITION: Vice President, Tech & Innovation

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The position of Vice President, Tech & Innovation Economic Development, reports to the Executive Vice President (EVP), supporting The Miami Dade Beacon Council (MDBC) Mission, delivering economic development services to attract and grow quality jobs advocating for Miami-Dade County's competitiveness.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Identifying strategic focus areas. such as entrepreneurial ecosystem development, diversity, equity, and inclusion; talent development, recruitment.
  2. Maintain an active working knowledge and deep understanding of Miami-Dade County's economy, State of Florida, and global markets.
  3. Generates, manages, and completes economic development projects. Maintains expertise in applying trends of federal, state, and local economic development services and programs.
  4. Actively engages in the Miami tech ecosystem as a facilitator and voice of economic development trends and opportunities.
  5. Serves as a thought leader on local and national tech and innovation trends.
  6. Conducts local business visitations to expand knowledge and reach within local targeted industry sector.
  7. Organizes and facilitates the MDBC Tech Industry Committee in partnership with Committee volunteers to define and lead initiatives originating from the committee.
  8. Provides direct economic development support services to entrepreneurs and scalable businesses seeking to invest and grow in Miami-Dade County, using all available resources to define solutions for growth.
  9. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with key State of Florida, Miami-Dade County, and local municipal representatives, as well as local economic development organizations, to facilitate the successful implementation of economic development programs in Miami-Dade County.
  10. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with key tech industry leaders, influencers, member/investor firms, and targeted economic development leads.
  11. Identifies and solicits new member/investor companies.
  12. Represents the organization in local, national, and international events, e.g., conferences and missions.

  • High-level of professionalism to include good verbal, written communication skills, ass keen presentation skills, are required.


GENERAL EDUCATION AND SPECIALIZED TRAINING PROGRAM, REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business and/or relevant field. A Master's Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, or International Affairs is a plus
  • Minimum of five years of experience required in Economic Development, Business, Technology Investment, Entrepreneurship, and/or Ecosystem building.
  • Fluency in an additional language is a plus, such as Spanish, Creole, and/or Portuguese
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Salesforce knowledge is a plus.
