Overview

Our Recovery Specialist develops, organizes, and facilitates group activities on an assigned unit. He/she works with the treatment team to fulfill the interdisciplinary treatment plan within the standards of the facility. He/she also is responsible for providing daily groups/activities to help patients who are struggling with mental and emotional problems as well as relationship issues such as trust and self-esteem.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field required

Experience:

One (1) year of experience in a mental health setting

Licenses/Certifications:

None required
Responsibilities

Plans and facilitates group activities; processes and manages group dynamics to maximize patient participation. Determines changes and document such changes. Notify team members through team meetings.
Re-assesses the patients (monthly) to determine readiness to move forward within the Illness Management Model; documents results of monthly re-assessments.
Able to complete documentation within a specified time frame. New admission Assessments & Monthly Re-Assessments.
Participates in the planning of special events by working as a team with all departments and programs to meet the needs of the patients.
Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats patients as an individual, and considers the culture of the patients when providing care and treatment.
Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of the patients of different ages. Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each patient.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
