Our client has an ambitious goal: To become a leading global acquirer and operator of a new generation of eCommerce businesses. Our client is one of Europe's fastest-growing startups and has raised ~150M EUR from top-tier VC funds 83North, Cherry Ventures, and Felix Capital towards this goal. Within 9 months, we have grown to a team of 200 talents and operate offices in Berlin, London, and Miami.

The Business Development Team is a key team for our client. The team is part of the Investment Team, which also includes the Acquisitions team. Their team researches and finds leads for potential AMZN and eCommerce businesses to be acquired. As a BD representative, you will be researching and contacting Sellers and serving as their first point of contact. You will collaborate with the Investment team once you generate qualified leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, identify and create qualified acquisition opportunities and target accounts for the company's investment team
  • Schedule and execute initial meetings with company owners
  • Develop trusting relationships with company targets, and act as the initial point of contact for company owners
  • Collaborate with the investment and marketing teams to evolve outbound prospecting strategy
  • Maintain all activities in the internal CRM
  • Take initiative by creating internal camaraderie across the BD team, whether it's driving key initiatives, planning social events, creating scalable tools for the team, or proactively improving our interview process, etc.


Expectations of you and of ourselves. Business Development Reps are...

  • Pro-active Owners. When BD Reps join, we expect them to take ownership while also receiving guidance and instructions on tasks. Within the first few weeks of joining, you will be expected to conduct cold calls with potential Sellers. We anticipate that you will work on tasks independently, adjust and flag concerns as they arise, and manage your time well. You should feel comfortable driving your own development by seeking peer and managerial feedback when you need support.
  • Curious Hunters. Successful BD Reps are excited to learn more about eCommerce and Amazon FBA's. You look for ways to self-educate about the sector and find internal resources to dive into. You ask pertinent questions internally and externally to find patterns and edge cases for why some Seller businesses are better-suited targets.
  • Prime Deliverers. Just like our friends at Amazon, we want our team to deliver results efficiently, effectively, and consistently. As a BD Representative, you will have targets to hit which will be established during onboarding.
  • Seller-centric Servicers. It is not required but strongly preferred to have had previous experience in a client-facing role, but Business Development Reps should be able to quickly get up to speed to feel comfortable to own the initial relationship with Sellers and make a strong first impression on behalf of the company.
  • Strong Communicators, Stronger Listeners. As a rapidly growing startup, we are all figuring things out together. We have limited documentation and established processes, so it is important for BD Reps to ask questions, listen to other's perspectives, and document their learnings to share with others.
  • Team Players. Yes, this is on almost every job description, but we care a lot about this. We are a fierce and results-driven team, but believe that winning is more fun together. We view team players as people who serve as role models for others by completing their work with professionalism and integrity.


Required:

  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken) & Regional Native language is mandatory
  • Knowledge or interest in E-Commerce and/or finance
