Chief Financial Officer

SUMMARY:
The CFO is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the Organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting and financial principles and in keeping with the goals and objectives of the organization. Provides strategic financial input and leadership on issues affecting the Organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides timely, accurate and actionable financial analysis and forecasting that will assist the Principals, and other senior managers in making sound business decisions. Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory interaction.
  • Participates in the structuring and negotiation of real estate acquisitions.
  • Reviews policies, procedures, systems and workflow on a regular basis. Develops, updates, implements and enforces as necessary to improve operational efficiencies, reduce operating expenses and further Organizational goals.
  • Improves the budgeting process through education of managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
  • Optimizes the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  • Develops a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs of the Organization.
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve the timeliness and accuracy of the agency's cash flow and management of the billing process.
  • Evaluates the Accounting and Treasury structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth where possible.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
:
Manages Corporate Controller, Treasurer, and accountants. May also directly supervise administrative and support employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong managerial skills including: delegating, planning, prioritizing, facilitating and process improvement; quality management; makes self available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; and develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.
  • Extensive knowledge of established accounting and financial policies, procedures, practices and systems, particularly in relation to the real estate development industry.
  • Experience in structuring and negotiating large scale multi-million dollar real estate transactions.
  • Able to create and comprehend complex financial and legal documents and reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Outstanding analytical, mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must work well under pressure and handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Posses a "big picture" perspective and can act decisively in an aggressive environment.
  • Highly experience in Yardi
  • Able to interact effectively with clients, lenders, vendors and employees at all levels of the Organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) and ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of Financial experience, preferably within the real estate industry or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Computer skills including: internet, e-mail, (MS Outlook) MS Excel, and MS Word, Yardi. Strong knowledge of financial and project management applications.

CERTIFICATES and LICENSES:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (Formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
