JOB SUMMARY:

The Food and Nutritional Clerk / Cashier Coffee Shop under the direction of the FANS Management Team ensures all cashiering, barista, and customer support functions are completed timely and accurately. The position processes orders, handles cash, and ensuring inventory is stocked. Provides the highest level of customer service at all times.

Cashier every other weekend 11am-7:30pm

Cashier Responsibilities:

Operates a cash register (or equivalent), received payments of cash, checks and makes change from customers and/or employees for goods or services.
Issues receipts or tickets to customers and/or employees.
Maintains proper security of cash at all times.
Understand and follows cash handling policies and procedures.
Assist in locating, reconciling, and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operate equipment with peripheral electronic data processing.
Required to prepare for service before the meal and clean the dining room after meal (wiping tables, vacuuming the floor, cleaning chairs, etc., ensuring the acceptable appearance of the dining area.
Set-up and stock the beverage area or other assigned areas.
Greets customers, mixes and serves hot and cold beverages as a barista.
Arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
Maintains bar/cart area in a neat and sanitary manner.
Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register and follows all cash handling procedures.
Maintains inventory, stock, and requisitions.
Provides the highest level of customer service at all times.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION: Not applicable

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or its equivalent, preferred.

EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in healthcare food and nutrition services preferred and clerical experience preferred.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Age legend does apply to clerk duties but does not apply to cashier function. This position does not have responsibility ­for the assessment, treatment and care of patients.
Responsibility for the safety of others: Position requires that the employee be on constant alert for possible hazards that may create unsafe conditions in the hospital. Possible hazards that should be watched for include, but are not limited to: faulty equipment or machinery; spills on floors, etc. Such conditions must be immediately reported to the employee's supervisor or the Plant Operations department.
Responsibility for physical assets: The employee will be responsible for the equipment and supplies that are issued to perform job functions during his/her shift. Employees are responsible for tagging and depositing with the Security Department personal property found during their duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The individual spends at least 75% of his/her time in air conditioning. Frequent variation in temperature may occur walking through the kitchen area or into the refrigerator/freezer. Moderate intermittent noise from kitchen equipment. The potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens, body fluids or other potentially-infectious materials is minimal. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: This position requires a good working knowledge of the cash register. Hospital policies and procedures regarding the handling of money. Duties include set up of the coffee shop and tale settings. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is by the spoken word. Most of the day is spent interacting with customers and employees. Ability to conduct oneself in a mature and professional manner at all times. Ability to receive and respond to instructions and work harmoniously with hospital personnel. supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position is primarily light work in nature. The maximum amount of lifting is 30 lbs. The position requires constant walking, standing, and pushing and pulling of supplies. Must meet the hospital's established health requirements. Requires the ability to exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word.

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION: Moderate, must be able to follow instructions and verbalize understanding of tasks.

EQUIPMENT USED: This position involves minimal exposure to infectious waste, cash register, coffee shop equipment, and cleaning products.
