The Department of Miami Transplant is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician performs comprehensive laboratory procedures of low and high complexity. The incumbent leverages knowledge in biological sciences to perform general laboratory responsibilities, such as culturing and freezing cells, manipulating nucleic acid, maintaining laboratory equipment, performing data entry, and preserving laboratory records.

* Collect and process swine tissue samples. Help in cell culture and maintain the cells bank.

* Make culture media and prepare reagent solutions. Keep records. Autoclave material.

* Wash glass and lab material. Discard properly biohazard materials.

* Observe that all the equipments work properly.

* Enter data into lab notebook and computer systems.

* Maintain laboratories and equipment functional and at the cleanest possible conditions.

* Organize stock, maintain inventory, and place orders.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* At least High school diploma or equivalent

* Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
