Nature of Work Benefits Supplemental Questions
Enforces regulations and protects life at a City pool. Patrols and observes swimming pool area to ensure appropriate use by patrons. Rescues patrons in distress as needed. Answers inquiries from patrons. An employee in this position must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Performs custodial and/or janitorial tasks to maintain a clean facility area. Assists in all equipment maintenance activities. May collect and account for fees received from patrons. Administers Standard First Aide and/or CPR as needed. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application. Proof of age must be submitted in one of the following forms issued by the United States of America Government: State Driver's License/Identification card, Birth Certificate, Naturalization Certificate or valid U.S. Passport at the time of electronic application submission.
The following valid certificates and/or wallet card(s) issued by the American Red Cross or other nationally recognized certifying agency must be possessed at time of application and maintained valid throughout employment:
* Lifeguard Training
* First Aid
* CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Certifications must be valid through September 30, 2021.
Must be able to pass the City of Miami's performance test, which may include swimming, running and simulate rescue exercises.
NOTE:
Employees in this classification will be required to work various shifts, to include nights, holidays and weekends.
Candidates will be subject to a Level II background screening.

All certifications will be verified.
NOTE:
Applications will be deemed ineligible unless copies of the required documents are uploaded and attached to the employment application at the time of submission. Certifications must be issued by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other nationally recognized certifying agency and kept current throughout employment.
Applicants must be available to report to work by Spring 2021 and through the summer season. Start date will depend on assigned facility. Attendance to a mandatory orientation session prior to work assignment is required.
City of Miami employee applications must reflect their current position and detail their work experience. City of Miami employees must upload and attach all required documentation to their application prior to submission.

Toxicology: Prospective employees may be required to submit to toxicology, medical and background screening. All costs associated with background screenings may be at the applicant's expense.
