Kemper is excited to be adding to our PIP Litigation team in the Lake Mary/Orlando market. Our PIP Litigation Specialists are responsible for the final disposition and conclusion of assigned PIP litigation cases. Ensures that all assigned claims are concluded equitably and economically within the provisions of the policy contract and in accordance with the governing laws of the applicable state. Responsible for the management of cases and expenses of those claims assigned.

Position Responsibilities:

• Ensures that all files assigned have an adequate investigation as to coverage, liability and damages so that a proper decision regarding defense or settlement can be made.

• Identifies the need for additional investigation and conducts further investigation or makes recommendation for same to management.

• Evaluates the proper defense strategy to be utilized to achieve the best results on an individual case before referral to counsel.

• Selects appropriate defense counsel on all cases assigned from list of approval defense counsel.

• Refers case to selected counsel for defense within mandated time frames and instructs counsel as to Plan of Action. Controls and directs activities of defense counsel throughout handling of each case.

Position Qualifications:

• 4 year college degree preferred. 3 years of casualty adjusting experience required with demonstrated proficiency in the handling of claims required. Experience may be substituted with a law degree and 2 years experience in casualty adjusting or experience in insurance litigation. Prior PIP or PIP litigation experience preferred.

• Associate in Claims designation preferred for those with no law degree.

• Ability to complete extensive, complex written reports and letters. Verbal skills to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels regarding complex issues required.

• Enrollment in AEI's "Legal Principles" within 1 year with successful completion of "Legal Principles" and "Liability" to attain the CCLA designation within 3 years of assignment to Litigation position.

• Ability to handle claims via an on-line claims system.
