The Department of Facilities Admin has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Shipping & Receiving Clerk to work in Miami, FL.

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk assembles and prepares items for shipment, and receives incoming shipments. Further, an employee in this position maintains detailed reports of items received, and deliveries and distributions made.

Performance of manual labor necessary for the efficient operation of the Surplus Property and Storage warehouse. This position will report to the Manager, Building Facilities

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Records shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability. Unpacks materials and supplies, and ensures accuracy. Makes delivery of items received to appropriate location or department. Reports damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes. Retrieves surplus equipment or supplies. Requests product return authorizations and processes required documents. Tracks orders and enters information regarding order and delivery details into appropriate database. Responds to inquiries and concerns regarding ordered items. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Certification and Licensing:

N/A

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

The individual must possess valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the State prior to appointment, The person must maintain such valid license during tenure of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

+ Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

+ Commitment to the University's core values.

+ Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

+ Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).

+ Ability to maintain good working relationship with co-workers and staff.

+ Ability to understand and follow written/oral instructions.

+ Must be able to read, write and speak English.

+ Capable of heavy lifting, bending, climbing ladders, sitting, pushing/pulling, etc.

+ Must be able to use hand trucks, pallet jacks, and basic hand and electric tools.

+ Must adhere to all safety standards as established by the University.

+ Individual is expected to exercise good judgment when faced with tasks of setting priorities if more than one assignment is given at once.

Department Specific Functions

+ Performs full range of warehouse functions such as receiving, stocking and storing surplus items to ensure the warehousing needs are met.

+ Individual in this position will be part of the surplus pick up crew, performing pick up of surplus items throughout the campuses.

+ Receives surplus items and verifies count against documents.

+ Must be willing to drive box trucks.

+ Sorting and placing surplus items on racks, shelves according to predetermined places.

+ Loads and unloads trucks.

+ Handle large equipment such as: Incubators, Fume Hoods, Sterilizers, Microscopes, Refrigerators, Freezers all sizes, shakers, etc.

+ Assisting in counting of physical inventory.

+ Responsible for lifting and/or moving heavy items such as office and lab furniture, miscellaneous equipment, setting up, dismantling, and moving throughout the medical campus

+ Responsible for tools and moving equipment assigned on jobs

+ Assist departments with confidential information to storage facility.

+ Organizing warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.

+ Ensuring warehouse is accessible and safe for staff.

+ Must be able to become forklift certified.

+ Other duties as assigned.
