Position Specific Description
Nextera Energy is seeking an experienced commercial attorney with renewable energy, transactional and project management expertise to support NextEra's development and business management teams. T he attorney would be responsible for drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, build-transfer agreements, power purchase agreements and joint development agreements related to renewable resources. Applicant must be a team player with a demonstrated commercial acumen who can interact successfully with clients, management and counterparties and who can thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Experience in the following is highly preferred: power purchase agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, financing, development of renewable energy projects, corporate governance. Must have at least seven years as a commercial transactional attorney.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Deliver timely and quality legal advice (written and oral) to clients with minimal supervision.
- Manage commercial transactions.
- Identify, mitigate and guard against legal and commercial risk.
- Work to ensure budget compliance.
- Displace outside counsel.
- Ensure disclosure of material legal issues to General Counsel.
- Significant budgetary responsibility; limited supervisory responsibility.
