Job description


The University of Central Florida's (UCF) Department of Writing and Rhetoric (DWR) is pleased to invite applications to fill two instructor or lecturer non-tenure-earning positions with an anticipated start date of August 2022. These positions have a 4/4 teaching load each academic semester, with an opportunity to teach each summer, in a dynamic first-year writing program. The successful applicants will have demonstrated experience teaching college composition and will work full-time in our first-year composition courses (ENC 1101 and 1102) as part of our writing about writing curriculum. Teaching modes may include face-to-face, mediated/hybrid, and online.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Qualifications: * • A master's degree (for an instructor) or terminal degree (for a lecturer) from an accredited institution in Rhetoric and Composition or a related field (e.g., English, sociolinguistics, communication, second language acquisition, or other fields in which writing and rhetoric are a significant focus of study).
    • At least two years of experience teaching college-level composition courses. Preferred Qualifications: * • Doctoral coursework and/or Doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition or related field from an accredited institution.
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching college composition and in working with a range of diverse writer populations.
    • Pedagogical knowledge and/or experience teaching multilingual and other linguistically diverse writers (experience can include classroom, writing center, and/or community literacy work).
    • Experience teaching writing in online learning environments.
    • Pedagogical knowledge and/or experience in business/professional writing and/or digital/multimodal writing.
    • Demonstrated participation or interest in participating in professional development activities (e.g., curricular innovation, assessment).
