Position Specific Description

This internship position will support the migration of FPL Business Solutions applications to the dynamic new corporate data center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The candidate will have exposure to a wide variety of business applications which enable vital business functions for Customer Service, Power Delivery, Marketing and Communications, FPL.com and others.

Candidate will also gain insight to the exciting world of implementing a modern, innovative, and reliable data center for mission critical business operations. Candidate will gain significant knowledge in Agile project delivery, application testing methodologies and business continuity planning.

The internship will focus on providing analytical support to one or more key application migration functions.

Potential Opportunities Include:

  • Application Migration Planning - performing analysis and gathering information from application owners to develop recommendations for migration implementation plans
  • Application Migration Preparation - performing pre-migration preparation of the application environment and/or data
  • Post Migration Application Certification - post-migration application testing, where appropriate


Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Assists with maintaining the inventory of multiple FPL solutions applications
  • Assists with generating visualizations for migration status reporting
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Candidate will work with IT and business unit analysts of various levels throughout the project.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, along with proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite; Knowledge of PowerBI is a plus.
  • Applicants should have experience working with others to create effective implementation plans


Education, Experience, Skills
  • Academic focus in Engineering, Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science or Marketing. Business Administration and Economics are a plus
  • A student of how technology interaction and User Experience impacts business
  • Excellent teamwork and project management capabilities


Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor's degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
