Histotechnologist needed in beautiful beach town of Panama City, Florida. Be a part of a well established dermatology group that has locations throughout the Florida Panhandle. Job Requirements:
  • Take initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner
  • Prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities in GYN cases
  • Participate fully in all cytology quality control procedures and complies with quality assurance and quality management standards with the department as outlined by the department, JCAHO, CAP
  • Perform a microscopic examination of the slides to detect cellular change and prepare initial findings
  • Work with numerous laboratory specimen preparations and possess knowledge of laboratory procedures and technologies such as cellular image analysis, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and molecular diagnostic procedures
  • Perform microscopic evaluation of cytologic specimens with few discrepancies following laboratory procedures and workload policies
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information relative to the laboratory
  • Evaluate cytology techniques like Pap staining and provide readings to scientists on the project
  • Support each other in serving patients and communities
  • Releasing in the Laboratory Information System
  • Screening and diagnosing gynecological and non-gynecological slides while working under the supervision of the pathologists and supervisor and following technical direction
  • Maintain ongoing log of all negative quality control (QC) diagnoses with comparative diagnoses between cytotechnologist and QC screener
  • Participate in the laboratory's proficiency testing program ensuring that samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
  • Excluding quasi Title 38 positions
  • Perform daily inventory or maintenance activities in the histology department, maintaining a clean and well-organized workspace
  • Work under general supervision and will process and screen GYN and Non-GYN specimens and provide an interpretation of the patient cases to the supervisor and Pathologists
  • Comply with all local, federal, CLIA, NYSDOH, CAP and OSHA regulations and requirements
  • Maintain personal skill competencies and assure section in-service and education needs are met by staying abreast of current trends, regulations, safety, to comply with licensing
  • Prepare cell samples for microscopic examination by making smears of cell samples and staining the slides
  • Make diagnosis, and forward appropriate cases to pathologist for review
