Requirements

• Performs duties in accordance with established laboratory standards.
• Assists in the recommendation of new methods for manufacturing and testing efficiency.
• The ability to work collaboratively within and across departments.
• Prepares experiments and samples for analyses.
• Analyze and accurately report results, in a timely manner, to contribute to process/method development and project outcomes.
• Operation and routine maintenance of laboratory instruments and troubleshooting procedures in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Accurately documents all procedures following customer requirements.
• Perform testing of products using general laboratory equipment/instrumentation.
• Evaluate, troubleshoot and solve routine problems. Interprets data based on knowledge and experience.
• Routinely Prepare technical report or presentations.
• Support and coordinate deviation investigations and implementation of change controls or robust corrective and preventative actions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Highly preferred skills and experience:

• Experience working with basic and advanced laboratory equipment

• Experience with basic molecular biology methods (agarose gel, densitometry, 96 well plate format assays, ELISA, UV spectrophotometry, qPCR, sequencing, primer generation, cloning, and others)
• Knowledge of regulatory aspects of bacterial strain development processes
• General understanding of major regulatory requirements

• Education

• BS/MS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field. PhDs with some industrial experience will also be considered

• 2-3 years direct laboratory experience
• Working knowledge of aseptic technique and microbial cell culture
• Working knowledge of experimental laboratory instruments and scientific products (bioreactors along with associated software is a plus)
• Experience with safe laboratory practices and procedures
• Previous experience working in a GLP/GMP facility

Physical Requirements

• This position requires the ability to frequently and repetitively move and/or pour a minimum of 5lbs (up to 25lbs may occasionally be required) as well as other physical activities, including:

• Constantly opening and closing lab receptacles, including removing and adhering plate seals, twisting caps, lifting lids.
• Occasionally ascending/descending a ladder to retrieve lab supplies.
• Constantly positioning self to pour or pipette reagents used for the lab process, including large and small volumes.
