Job description

Overview

The Associate Scientist will work on the development of next generation tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) approaches for therapeutic applications. Such methods include the use of lentiviral systems for stable transduction of TIL as well as ex vivo manipulation of T cell activating and inhibitory pathways, knockout approaches and other ex-vivo manipulations aimed at improving the function, trafficking, and persistence of TILs. The position requires prior experience working in a research laboratory and the ideal candidate will have experience with viral transduction systems, cellular assays, and flow cytometry. We are looking for a very motivated scientist who can bring impactful work to the team and help move new TIL approaches into the clinic.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a research and development group to support ongoing projects in the lab.
  • Design and execute experimental plans and protocols consistently.
  • To perform cell culture, vector transfection, lentivirus harvest/concentration and gene transduction
  • To design, test, and qualify multi-color flow panels for the analysis of TIL.
  • To run cell sorting for TIL enrichment
  • Analyze and interpret experimental results. Make detailed observations and record them in a timely and relevant fashion.
  • Capability for troubleshooting technical issues and presenting ideas to the team.
  • Investigate and develop new methods and technologies necessary to project advancement.
  • Write corresponding SOPs.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, including posters for meetings.
  • Help identifying patentable inventions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or related discipline with 3-5 years of research experience is required.
  • High motivation and flexibility to adapt to new situations and be part of a dynamic and growing team.
  • Prior hands-on research laboratory experience in industry or academia required.
  • Ability to independently carry out all lab experiments. Skilled at tissue culture using primary and established cell lines as well as in vitro T cell functional assays. Extensive experience with molecular biology, viral/non-viral delivery systems, tissue/blood processing, and/or flow cytometry staining/acquisition is required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret experimental results, make detailed observations, and record them in a timely and relevant fashion.
  • Ability to organize results for presentation and discussion and to develop new methods and technologies necessary for project advancement.
  • Excellent record keeping and organization skills needed.
  • Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively.
  • Good collaborative style.
