ABOUT THE POSITION
B.E. Blank & Company ("the Firm") is seeking a high caliber finance professional to fill a key credit underwriting role within our investment team. The ideal candidate will have at least three to five years of experience at a commercial lending firm. The Credit Underwriting Associate will work directly with the Deputy Chief Investment Officer and other Principals to inform decision-making in all aspects of the Firm's underwriting and investment processes.
A successful Credit Underwriting Associate will utilize independent research, industry knowledge, and financial analyses to assess the credit worthiness of potential borrowers. (S)he will track and proactively execute a high volume of credit files at any one time. The Credit Underwriting Associate must be able to summarize his/her findings in clear, concise memoranda to the Firm's investment committee.

The Firm is the investment manager to two funds that are designed to provide investors with non-correlated, favorable risk-adjusted returns with limited volatility by providing working capital to stakeholder-centric law firms that are mission-oriented and values-aligned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Underwrite commercial loans by reviewing and analyzing financial data, borrower performance and character, and operational capabilities to assess credit worthiness
- Estimate the degree of risk involved in extending commercial credit to law firms
- Perform cash flow analyses to project a law firm's ability to service its credit facility
- Create weekly pipeline reports and investment committee memoranda
- Liaise with the Firm's sourcing, legal and loan servicing areas as relevant to credit underwriting functions
- Assist with other initiatives as requested, including the creation of tools/templates, marketing materials, press releases, recruiting, and other internal processes

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND MINDSET
- A successful candidate will hold at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields, with exceptional academic credentials
- A successful candidate will have approximately three to five years of experience in credit/financial analysis at a commercial lender
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills are essential given the high-volume, project-to-project nature of the position
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, as well as an uncompromising attention to detail, is required
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required
- Public service experience, including service with the armed forces, in government, or in the non-profit sector is a plus
