Job description

Summary:

Perform inspections of injection molded and machined products for defects, and deviations from specifications. Responsible for auditing materials/components received using GD&T, SPC and general use of measuring equipment and software. Oversee new product qualification (PPAP), interface with production workers, and maintain communication with Quality Department.

1st Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Analyze and interpret drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products.
  • Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Mark items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers.
  • Perform duties with little or no supervision.


Qualifications/Education/ Experience:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.).
  • Minimum of 2 years Production and Process knowledge in Manufacturing
  • The ability to read blueprints, sketches, specifications and technical materials.
  • The ability to work with coworkers in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical concepts, process variation, process capability and over-adjustment.
  • Ability to use hand held measuring devices.
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time during 8-12 hour shifts.
  • Lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Critical Thinking; Complex Problem Solving ; and, Verbal and Written Communication.
  • Background in Automotive (TS-16949) and/or Aerospace (AS-9100).
  • Computer experience with Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • English language proficiency, to include verbal and written communication.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings

Tools used in this occupation: Go/No Go Gauges, Calipers, Digital Micrometers, DCC CMM, Optical Comparators, Toolmakers Microscope, and Micro-Vu Vision System.

Technology used in this occupation: Spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), Database Software (Microsoft Access), SPC Software (InfinityQS), Vision Inspection Systems (Micro-Vu Inspection), and Label Making Software.
