Position Description Job SummaryJob PurposeThis position has responsibility for the initiation of the Hot End Furnace project for the ADFORS Dublin, GA facilityThe incumbent is a member of the Operations Team responsible for the hot-end of the fiberglass furnace, i.e., the sizing workshop, batch-house, furnace and related machines, forming and winding.The incumbent will be responsible for initiating and building an internal project team, as well as, external recruitment, and will manage a department of four (4) or more direct reports. His/her project team will be responsible for screening all machines/equipment within their scope, evaluating the gaps to assure SG Vetrotex standards are met, applying the appropriate retrofit and repair measures to assure an April 2023 furnace restart and adhering to a budget of $6M. The incumbent will be responsible for training and developing his team members to assure full achievement and focus on the project objectives. Upon completion of the furnace restart project, the incumbent will manage production with more than 200 direct report employees.The incumbent will actively communicate with others in the organization responsible for other restart projects, i.e., utility and downstream machinery repairs.The Incumbent works within a framework of defined World Class Manufacturing - WCM practices and precedents and must have the ability to prioritize high level workload, work to satisfy the priority needs of the company by organizing work, applying multi-functional skills, and following tasks through to completion. The incumbent leads WCM in his area, focused on people safety, machine reliability and environmental impacts. Principle End Results Manage the main variables of the type E glass melting process, based on the working instructions and procedures of the ISO 9000 system. Manage the sizing, forming and raw material lab areas in order to supply the twisting are with fiberglass rolls in accordance with the requirements of the production plan and in accordance with current specifications in order to achieve the objectives set by the managing Director. Efficiently and effectively manage collaborators responsible for the sizing, furnace, batch house, forming and winding teams to achieve the plants objectives. Analyze the furnace, sizing and forming variables established in graphs on a daily basis. Guarantee and manage the correct operations of the furnace equipment through effective communication, proposing actions that will avoid complication of the process. Plan and organize extraordinary activities or maintenance to be carried out in the oven, batch house, sizing, forming and winding areas. Guarantee the physical status of hot-end equipment in an effort to assure the proper installation and target machine life for sizing, furnace, forming, winding and batch house. Lead the members of the hot-end teams and contribute to their personal and professional development, as well as permeate a culture of relearning. Follow the behaviour of forming results, report and relate the actions completed in the oven that may alter the stability of the hot area process. Correlate and analyze different variables in the melting and forming process. Communicate effectively, in a pyramid manner, any anomaly or important change in process for decision-making, if necessary. Develop and assign goals and objectives that coincide with the established department goals, holding subordinates accountable for their performance. The incumbent must be a mentor capable of generating enthusiasm from direct reports. The various groups must be encouraged to seek cost-effective design alternatives and processes. Provides leadership in assuring employee physical wellbeing and safety by the development, promotion and enforcement of an uncompromising safety attitude in both supervision and production employees and good safety practices measured by a safety record that exceeds and leads the industry. Dedicated to serve on committees, i.e. WCM, plant safety, continuous improvement, Live Well and Recognition programs. Understands Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participates, supports and is familiar with Continuous Improvements methodology as it relates to WCM initiatives. Through effective direction, counselling and training, develop and maintain an effective organization through selection, development, compensation, and motivation of all employees. Develop managerial, supervisory and other talents necessary to achieve short and log-range objectives.Required QualificationsThe incumbent is required to have a BS degree in Engineering or related area. The candidate will have 5+ years of work-related experience in a fiberglass manufacturing environment.The incumbent is responsible for continuous communication with: Management for joint decision-making and reporting of abnormalities Maintenance for follow-up of maintenance and planning of other activities or requirements. Batch House Operator for system monitoring in the event of any failure, activities to be carried out, monitoring of furnace silo and batch house levels. Finance for R31 monitoring and compliance. Environmental, Health and Safety to contribute to build a safe environment, and to exhibit the example that safety is a first priority, support accident analysis and build a safety culture within Saint-Gobain safety perimeters. Management and compliance with environmental indicators, compliance with the ISO 14000 system. Purchasing to follow-up with purchases within the hot-end perimeter.
