Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director, Human Resources, the Human Resource Manager (HRM) performs highly responsible business unit activities by partnering with the VP GM of the division, as well as division Plant Managers, relative to staffing, turnover, quality, training and development, and safety, with the objective of meeting JELD-WEN's Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) including, but not limited to, SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement (CI) objectives and activities. This position is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource functions of the plant and supporting functions, and works closely with the Leadership teams in supporting and driving JELD-WEN's KPI's in conjunction with their Mission Statement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Develops and administers various human resource plans for all facility personnel.
* Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the Human Resource department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, plans and systems.
* Provides leadership, direction, training and guidance to associates to include staff, and personnel up and down the organizational hierarchy.
* Implements and annually updates compensation programs; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and system and revises as necessary, and performs same on departmental staff.
* Handles personnel files, confidential correspondence and materials associated with all plant and facility personnel with a high degree of integrity.
* Conducts or assists in recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel, students and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements.
* Establishes and maintains department records/reports. Participates in administrative staff and safety meetings, and attends other meetings as directed.
* Evaluates reports, decisions and results of the department in relation to established JELD-WEN goals, its Mission Statement and KPI's. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the plant/department and services performed.
* Promotes positive employee relations, and guides, coaches and trains plant leaders in conducting Performance Evaluations of their subordinates for both positive and negative reinforcement behavior modifications.
* Proactively delegates work, and manages the productivity, accuracy and efficiency of the Human Resource staff under the position's domain.
* Participates, as needed, in special department projects as determined by the Plant Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business preferred and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Fundamental knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques, including, but not limited to, SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities and objectives, preferably at JELD-WEN, or the door and window industry.
* Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem solving skills, and a thorough understanding of JELD-WEN's Mission Statement and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
* Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide or arrange for appropriate training of plant/facility personnel.
* The ability to motivate/empower others, and resolve conflict.
* Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and other JELD-WEN associated computer software and hardware applications.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Must have the ability to maintain the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
* Must be able to attend position appropriate training and seminars, and have the ability to travel and be mobile for future growth and development opportunities in the Company.
