Aon is looking for an Assistant Director - Risk Control

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Property Risk Control - Field Services Assistant Director to work in the United States. This position will support Aon's Risk Solutions, Global Property Risk Consulting group. This position can be based near our Chicago office.

The Assistant Director for the field services group, which is part of Property Risk Control, US will perform a combination of client focused activities as well as internal Aon tasks passionate about advising and optimizing the field services team. The field services group is tasked with completing surveys and related consulting regarding property protection and conservation to help reduce the Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) for the client's property portfolio.

Responsibilities

Project Management (Account engineering) - Primary interface with client or Aon team. The project manager is responsible for leading delivery of work product to the client as well as quality and timeliness.

People management - primarily field consultants within the field services group.

Training / mentoring staff

Innovation - Use of technology to improve efficiency and new areas for expansion

Perform property risk control/underwriting surveys for various clients in diverse industries. Surveys are not the primary focus but will be completed as needed.

General Field Service Activities: The Assistant Director will both complete some of the below activities as well as direct and work with Field Services team to complete such activities for clients.

Develop loss expectancies for recommendations and MFL & NLE.

Collaborate with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses. Influence clients to implement recommendations.

Problem solving using the application of Client Standards, NFPA, FM Global or other standard methodologies to resolve technical fire protection issues.

Perform reviews of architectural and engineering plans for client facilities (either new construction, expansion or renovation projects) for fire sprinkler systems, water supply, and fire alarm systems and provide review comments.

Provide cost effective solutions or alternatives to provide a suitable level of protection for a building or process.

Witness hydrant and fire pump flow tests, sketch sprinkler systems, and carry out hydraulic calculations.

Support construction and new manufacturing projects to ensure necessary fire protection standards are met.

Requirements:

Expert interpersonal skills required in order to prioritize assignments and continually deliver

Technically proficient in understanding, interpreting, and applying NFPA and/or FM Global standards; and, evaluating fire protection systems (automatic sprinklers, special extinguishing systems, etc.)

Past experience with, and ability to assess high hazard occupancies (flammable liquids, combustible dusts, etc) is a plus

Experience leading people is a plus

Experience in Account engineering or similar role

Education

B.S. Engineering or minimum 10 yrs of Highly Protected Risk engineering/consulting experience
