Job description

Looking for a candidate who is local to Chicagoland. This is a remote role but this person will have to be on site from time to time at the Chicagoland location.


NEED STRONG EXPERIENCE WITH SCCM and O365. This person will be someone who has leadership experience but can be hands on as needed.


Primary Purpose

Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities for the enterprise's desktop and mobility engineering team including desktop, mobility and printing technologies. Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to the Desktop and Printing technologies. Responsibilities include strategy development, solution design, engineering and support, vendor management, project delivery, problem resolution and operational support across the company's enterprise. Primary objective is to create a repeatable, predictable and secure endpoint experience for all enterprise users.


Major Responsibilities

  • Recommends and implements improvements to desktop architecture and design
  • Provides technical leadership and recommendations for best practices to senior management regarding desktop management/configuration with the firm's Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Office 365 and Azure environments
  • Designs, maintains and troubleshoots operating system images and task sequences in SCCM for a variety of hardware and virtual platforms.
  • Designs, packages and executes application deployments using SCCM, Microsoft's standard installer technology (MSI) and transforms (.MST) using industry standard tools.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting on desktop/laptop related issues using industry standard tools
  • Designs, writes and maintains scripts using industry standard scripting languages including PowerShell.
  • Configures, deploys and monitors OS and application updates through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), SCCM and other delivery mechanisms
  • Designs, manages and troubleshoots (Client) Group Policy throughout the enterprise with a focus on application delivery and workstation management
  • Design, manage and troubleshoot Enterprise Print platforms including, MFP, thermal, laser and desktop printers
  • Intake effort demand and translate into rolling 90-day forward-looking resource forecast
  • Develop and achieve consensus across IT and business leaders for the technical strategy for the enterprise network technologies
  • Manage key vendor relationships for hardware, software and services including negotiations and contract management
  • Provide project management expertise to deliver projects within budget, schedule and quality
  • Support key IT operational processes such as incident management, problem management and change management
  • Support all information security processes and standards including patch management, configuration management and vulnerability management
  • Construct and publish change impact communication plans to the business and IT stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with IT service management to develop knowledge articles and training for the IT support staff
  • Manage the full life cycle of (Client/Printer) hardware and software assets from procurement to deployment to retirement, including the maintenance of required asset data
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and new capabilities in the market
  • Coach, mentor and develop required skills, capabilities and behaviors of IT Desktop and Printing technology team
  • Develop and foster a team atmosphere that exhibits teamwork within the team and with other internal teams
  • Manages people, processes, expense and project budgets, performance management, compliance activities, and associate development as required by the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Windows 10 Enterprise operating system features, settings and installation
  • MAC OS 10.13 or higher
  • Advanced working knowledge of Apple iPhone and Android mobile device interoperability
  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Intune, Autopilot, and their use for managing features, settings, and configurations of Windows, Office, and third?party applications
  • Active Directory, Group Policy
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office 365 and Intune/Endpoint Manager configuration and administration
  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure/Azure Active Directory
  • Troubleshooting hardware and application configurations as it relates to workstation performance and end user experience
  • Ability to write scripts in PowerShell and/or VBScript
  • Bitlocker fixed and portable disk encryption
  • BIOS functions and configuration
  • Wired and wireless networking technologies, topologies, and basic networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS, IP Addressing, Subnets, and VLANS
  • Knowledge of information security processes and standards
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL processes


Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field highly desired. Equivalent work experience considered.
  • Prior management experience (projects, resources, and staff)
  • 7+ years of experience in creating and maintaining operating system images using System Center Configuration Manager and third-party tools
  • 7+ years of experience using SCCM and WSUS for OS patching and application packaging, updates and maintenance
  • 2+ years of experience in leading technical teams
  • Microsoft and/or PMP certifications highly desirable
