Job description
We are seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team. This individual will work with the Corporate Controller, this individual will be responsible for the maintaining general ledger accounting for multiple locations including payroll, treasury, and inter-company allocations driving best practices, efficiencies and controls across multiple business processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage general ledger accounting multiple locations, including payroll, treasury, prepaid, and non-plant related accruals
- Ensure timely and accurate closing the books for monthly, quarterly and annual
- Develop best practices and efficiencies in accounting processes and transnational related work to drive more timely, accurate and transparent close process
- Contribute in annual headcount budgeting process as well as ongoing monthly analysis on employee related salary and benefit costs
- Manage corporate allocation process to ensure, timely, complete and transparent allocation of costs between Business units and locations. Manage budget process related to cost allocation including human resources and IT costs across multiple locations
- Refine and enhance, as required, the process for recording and elimination of inter-company transactions. Ensure timely account settlements, and ensure all balances are reconciled each month.
- Drive month end close improvement, including process improvements, optimized use of centers of excellence/centralized processing to drive efficiency and effectiveness in reporting and close
- Support Corporate Controller and Business Unit Controllers to facilitate monthly account reconciliation reviews and review of monthly results driven by corporate related allocations
- Identify process improvement and/or automation opportunities and implement solutions that improve timeliness and accuracy of financial transactions
- Team with Finance and Business in developing ad hoc and ongoing financial analysis which include both historic and projected data as needed
- Participate in cross functional projects and assist other functions improving accounting processes and transparency
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree must have been in either Accounting or Finance with extended coursework in accounting.
- 6 to 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry; 2 to 3 years of public accounting experience and CPA, preferred
- Experience working with complex global multinational company with multiple locations and processes, as well as desperate ERPs.
- Experience managing Treasury GL and Payroll processes for multiple locations
- Experience managing inter-company process including reconciliation and settlement process
- Background in building out best practice accounting processes
- Strong critical thinking and business acumen
- To be considered, all candidates must possess extremely strong Excel skills. You will be required to build sophisticated spreadsheets and models.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills A high level of organizational skills plus be very detailed oriented are critical for this position.
- Adaptable and flexible in a fast-pasted and changing environment.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines. Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.
- Demonstration of innovation and initiative - always looking at improving our processes and displaying a willingness to dive into the details and help wherever necessary.
- Experience with Planful (Host Analytics) strongly preferred
