Job description

Creative Financial Staffing has been exclusively retained by a fast-growing Private Equity backed Manufacturing company to identify a Controller to join their team. They are seeking an ambitious individual who is looking to grow in their career. This is a steppingstone into the CFO position. The Controller opportunity is based in the Rosemont area.

  1. The Company: Fast-growing Private Equity backed manufacturing company transitioning from an entrepreneurial stage environment to a sophisticated financial organization.
  2. Opportunity: This is a hands-on Controller role that will transition into an executive leadership position within the company. The CEO is seeking an accountant who wants to go beyond the daily accounting grind and move into a business partner role where you will provide business and operational analysis, strategic insight and tactical financial support to the Senior Management Team.
  3. The Exposure: Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will oversee all of the day-to-day accounting for the business units and the consolidated company. This highly visible role will manage all banking and external financial vendor relationships.

The Controller's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will have 3 direct reports and will have "hands-on" responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day financial management of the company including: the preparation of the monthly financial package; management of GL accounts, annual audit and submission of government and related tax returns; and financial planning.
  • Develop and implement business process improvement initiatives and strategies.
  • Increase the company's ability to anticipate business issues and drive good decision-making through sound financial management.
  • Further develop guidelines and processes corresponding to the rapid growth of the company.
  • Continually review accounting policies and procedures to ensure that the company is compliant with GAAP and statutory accounting.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
  • C.P.A., M.B.A. or master's degree in finance is preferred, but not required.
  • 8-10+ years combined hands-on experience in either 1) an accounting and financial management function in start-up or growing company or 2) at a national accounting/audit firm.
Experience either working in the manufacturing industry or auditing manufacturing firms
