Job description

Involved in the application of general design practices. Will select and recommend procedures in the design and prepare preliminary designs for Engineer's approval. Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, and coordinates the work. Reviews analyze and integrate the technical requirements and design approaches. Review work for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. Position skills are heavily focused on electrical design but have a working technical knowledge of other discipline design requirements. Capable of leading and coordinating others within their discipline to successfully complete project assignments. Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications, as-built documentation, on-site procurement, and installation supervision.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design raceway systems including underground duct banks, cable trays, and above-ground conduit.
  • Design lighting systems including interior, exterior, and roadway lighting.
  • Design grounding systems.
  • Develop schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Develop one-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Design review to assure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Coordination with engineering and other crafts to assure a complete, coordinated design.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering design experience in the Power and Industrial Industry.
  • Previous lead design experience.
  • 2D and 3D CAD experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and take direction from others.
  • Willingness to travel and work in office and field environments as necessary.
  • Must maintain active status in a drug and/or alcohol testing consortium


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Certificate in Design/Drafting.
  • Experience with AVEVA E3D and/or Bentley MicroStation preferred.
