POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a forward-thinking Business Analyst with a technical background to join the Program Management Office within Grant Thornton's Enterprise Transformation team. In this role you will work directly with Product Owners and Project Teams to develop requirements and acceptance criteria for projects focused on data integrations as well as other more technical initiatives. You will be responsible for facilitating grooming sessions, developing the project backlog and enabling user acceptance. You will also work with Vendor Partners to ensure accurate development of the product.
The primary focus for this business analyst will be working with stakeholders and the architecture team on PMO projects with a heavy technical focus. This includes data integrations, infrastructure and operations projects. PMO staff are expected to align to the PMO's standards for Agile implementation and delivery on all projects, including SaaS, PaaS, and cloud-based digital solutions. On some projects you will be responsible for capturing and completing the details in standard epic, feature, user story format and on other projects you will oversee a resource from a vendor partner who will be completing the requirements documentation. In all cases the Grant Thornton business analyst is accountable for the accuracy and completeness of all requirements.
You will be working with product owners and stakeholders from across Grant Thornton's internal departments and client-facing service lines across all levels of the organization. You will maintain a good working relationship with teammates, stakeholders and third-party staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will plan, manage and report on all aspects of requirements definition in line with PMO standards and processes, including:
- Planning, preparation and facilitation of requirements gathering sessions
- Documentation of epics, features and fully elaborated user stories
- Assistance with transitioning acceptance criteria into user acceptance test plans
- Participation in all sprint ceremonies
- Support triage of bugs, risks and issues associated with the project
- Other duties as assigned
Key Business Analyst tasks include:
- Adhere to PMO's standards for Azure DevOps
- Plan and execute grooming sessions
- Manage project backlog
- Review all user stories and acquire stakeholder sign-off
- Ensure completeness of acceptance criteria
- Follow up on requirements gaps as needed
- Ensure understanding of all requirements on the part of the developers
- Provide assistance with UAT planning and execution activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- 5+ years of experience working within an Agile Scrum
- Working knowledge of common Agile tooling (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jira)
- Ability to coach/influence a team
- Any relevant certifications (IIBA, Agile, Automation)
- Strong background/experience with the utilization of digital, cloud-based emerging technologies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to communicate difficult subject matter in a clear and concise fashion and enable successful delivery of innovation
- Ability to effectively execute job duties in a collaborative manner and with sound judgement, pragmatism, and a bias toward results
- Self-confident, is comfortable presenting information to large groups of people, facilitating meetings, and building consensus
- Strong and demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, collaboration, negotiation, influencing, and leadership
- Strong organizational skills including critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Highly action-oriented, with a leadership style characterized by strong influencing skills; someone who is a change agent who can build collaborative relationships
- An advocate of continuous process improvement and proven experience in driving process efficiency, and simplification
- An engaging and approachable personality and a significant history of working successfully with all levels of staff, from front-line through senior executive
- Committed to personal and team excellence and someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done
