Job description

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join the finance team at our Gurnee, Illinois location as part of the Vantage Performance Materials business unit. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the month end closing process, including preparing and posting journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will also be a key point of contact for accounting issues supporting the business unit and will report to the Business Unit Controller.

Responsibilities

• Month end closing responsibilities including journal entry preparation, posting, and accruals.
• Audit third party freight activity
• Reconcile and balance general ledger accounts, and research and correct any discrepancies.
• Customer invoicing, process customer credits and support Accounts Receivable function.
• Support sales team with requests and reporting
• Manage the fixed asset accounting and capital project reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
• Answer financial and accounting questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Assist management with the forecast and budgeting process.
• Collaborate with various members of the team to identify and implement process control updates.
• Carry out ad hoc financial projects and perform backup duties, as required
• Provide back-up support to the Controller

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Accounting or relevant degree (CPA/CMA preferred).
• 1-3 years of experience in the financial/administrative or other business-related field.
• Familiarity with the manufacturing environment desirable.
• Strong ability to use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical ability.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Well organized and have the flexibility to cope with a fast-changing environment.
