Position Summary

This position Supervises Quality Assurance and ensures that QA Chemists and Technicians are in compliance with all policies and procedures. Serves as the main point of contact between all other departments and the QA laboratory. Ensures that there is adequate laboratory support for all production and R&D needs.


The main objective is to ensure and sustain high quality of product and delivery. The candidate must have the ability and knowledge to learn how to effectively utilize and apply tools and best-known methods. The candidate will be held accountable to quality standards and processes and enhance positive communication with external and internal customers as well as co-workers. This candidate should demonstrate proactive approach and have a quality systems excursion-free mindset with a systematic plan.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the activities of QA Technicians and QA Chemists engaged in inspecting and testing of raw materials, work in-process, and finished goods such as solder paste, tacky soldering flux, liquid flux and solder forms.
  • Manages training and cross-training of new and existing personnel to assure that establishment and regulatory standards are met.
  • Conducts complex analytical and application testing procedures during manufacturing processes to ensure products comply with quality standards
  • Generates Certificates of Analysis for products that are shipping to customers
  • Performs analytical or applications testing when necessary as part of inspection and customer complaint investigation
  • Carry out method development using various analytical equipment such as GC, HPLC, IC, FTIR, TGA, TMA, DSC
  • Ensures products to be delivered meet customer requirements.
  • Manages Calibration, Preventive Maintenance, and other service agreements for metrology tools.
  • Reviews quality assurance instructions, product specifications and production schedules to determine methods of conducting inspections and tests, sequence of operations and work assignments.
  • Enters quality data, responds to points out of specification, collects supporting data, coordinates investigation, and ensures proper documentation is followed
  • Conducts Measurement Systems Analysis.
  • Assists in quality, production, or R&D studies as needed
  • Effectively interfaces with Production, Sales, Marketing, and R&D to obtain business results
  • Investigates new ideas to improve quality, maintain or reduce costs, while increasing output
  • Creates/Maintains work instructions and procedures pertaining to Quality
  • Manages and maintains customer reports, when applicable
  • Additional duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in chemistry, engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in laboratory environment and 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Analytical chemistry and technical writing
  • Must have workable, hands-on knowledge of instrumentation equipment used in laboratory environment
  • Ability to read, write and interpret work process procedures, customer reports, and general business correspondence is required, as well as the ability to learn, apply and proliferate in-process statistical controls.
  • Must be able to identify and follow internal procedure for process or equipment problems, develop and propose valid solution(s) to problems and actively participate in root-cause analysis efforts
  • Experience supporting production and using wet chemistry, pH, titrations, and viscometers is preferred. Knowledge of Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Six Sigma a plus
