Position Purpose:

The Maintenance Services, Sr. Mgr. is responsible for managing and directing all activities required to support the maintenance needs of Manufacturing and non Manufacturing areas for the Kankakee site.
The role will form a strong partnership with Manufacturing Maintenance Services and will be responsible for leading a maintenance and systems Subject Matter Expert group to manage and improve Maintenance Services including, day to day maintenance, preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance, continuous improvement and manufacturing reliability.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Establish and execute strategic direction for the maintenance team in alignment with site goals.
  • Transform existing operational practices to leverage tools, processes, relationships, best practices to ensure service delivery is high efficient and effective.
  • Develop policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure facilities are designed, operated and maintained in a manner that ensures compliance with GMP, FDA, HS&E, Local, State and National laws/ regulations /policies & procedures.
  • Develops and implements analysis methods and deploys data to effectively measure the reliability of components, equipment and overall manufacturing processes. Support sites in applying tools to analyze the date and identify solutions to eliminate losses, optimize asset lifecycles and increase operational efficiencies
  • Co-ordinate facility maintenance activities with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering & Utilities Teams. Provide leadership to the predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance efforts of the maintenance team
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through employee selection, training and mentoring while focusing on operational efficiency and the elimination of "non-value added" activities.
  • Plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Coach and manage performance of all maintenance technicians.

  • Completes any other duties/responsibilities assigned by senior management.

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. In lieu of a bachelor's degree an Associate's Degree with a minimum of ten years of experience in a related field is acceptable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience pharmaceutical industry
  • Functions as a lead in making day-to-day decisions in matters specific to personnel; Experience managing a union workforce preferred
  • Must be computer proficient in the use of the many programs required to operate and manage facilities - Trackwise, SAP, FMS, Ariba, DCMS
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma / Lean principles a plus
  • Advanced skills in MS-Project, MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Visio, and MS-Outlook
  • Labor Relations experience preferred
