Position Overview:
Based in metro Chicago, Navistar International Corporation is a leading global manufacturer of trucks and buses. Future truck designs will be influenced by these trends and you can be a part of this dynamic phase. We are looking for a bright, talented, and motivated engineer to join our Body Exterior team.
This position is for a Senior Engineer. This individual will provide technical and analytical support to Integrated Product Development. They will serve as a central resource for the delivery of Exterior vehicle components and systems via Requirements Definition, Design Validation Planning, Design & Release, BOM management, Engineering Change Management and Issue Resolution. The individual will provide support during system and vehicle validation as well as travel to test facilities and build events at manufacturing facilities. They will work with Supplier Quality and Purchasing as the project moves through program gates from concept to production. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a product's lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.
Role and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include concept, design and release of exterior parts for new products
Engineering support for current production concerns
CAD model and print generation in NX/Team Center environment
Support supplier requested design changes and help resolve quality concerns with guidance from experienced engineering team member
Creation of DFMEAs and DVPs with guidance
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 2 years of experience in product design/development
OR
Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Additional Requirements:
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills:
Experience in truck or automotive design and development is a plus
Experience designing parts for injection molding, reaction injection molding and/or compression molding is a plus
Experience using Unigraphics UG-NX2 or any CAD related modeling software
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects
Familiarity with design quality tools including:
Failure Modes Effects Analysis & DVP
Design for Manufacturing
Design for Assembly
Basic Dimensional Management (GD&T, etc.)
