Position Summary:
We are seeking an audit professional to work with us to develop and deliver a disciplined approach of evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the company's control, governance and risk management processes, and report the results to senior management.
The Senior Auditor will participate in the audit planning, fieldwork testing and reporting of allocated assignments. This will involve designing the required tests for execution, performing the detailed testing and vetting the potential findings with key business liaisons, draft reports, and follow up on issues and agreed action plans. The Internal Audit Senior will have an opportunity to learn about all of our Divisions and have frequent exposure to senior management within the Company.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct risk based audits. This includes supporting the Audit Manager in the timely delivery of each audit assignment including, but not limited to, scoping the assignment, detailed testing of the scope area, agreeing findings and escalating where required.
* Document the results of audit work in accordance with the internal requirements and IIA standards.
* On occasion, perform work paper reviews and coaching of more junior members of the team on allocated audit assignments.
* Communicate and maintain relationships with audit clients during the course of the audit process.
* Work with others or independently as determined by needs of the assignment; seek guidance and confirmation of progress as required.
* Complete assigned tasks within the allocated budgeted hours and escalate any challenges to complete the assigned tasks within the budgeted hours to the Audit Manager timely.
* Use sound judgment and creativity when documenting the potential audit finding, including the root cause for review by the Audit Manager.
* Drafting finding (s) for the audit report, and on occasion draft the full audit report, for review by the Audit Manager, using sound judgment and creativity when formulating and drafting recommendations in response to control concerns and opportunities for improvement.
* Perform follow up to monitor adequacy and timely completion of remediation plans.
* Complete the audit assignments in accordance with the Global Audit Manual and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards) promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors, local regulators and Industry guidance.
* Stay abreast of best practices, both internally and externally.
* Assist the Global Internal Audit Senior Leadership team in training the India Audit Center as they support the individual audit assignments.
* Carry out duties following Gallagher policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, good governance and Gallagher's shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business
* Other duties as assigned.
Required:
* Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college/university, preferably in finance, accounting or related field.
* Minimum of two years of public accounting, internal audit or directly applicable experience.
Desired:
* Relevant experience (preferably financial services, insurance, insurance brokerage advantageous)
Technical Knowledge and Experience:
* Basic understanding of professional audit standards, COSO, Sarbanes- Oxley and risk assessment practices.
* Good interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal, written and presentation communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholder.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Working knowledge in Microsoft applications.
* Participate in initiatives in a fast paced environment and be comfortable to implement and assimilating to change.
* Good customer service focus and the ability to strike a balance between oversight and getting buy-in from the businesses.
* Execution of the individual performance goals.
* Maintain knowledge of current accounting and auditing practices through continuing professional education.
* Highly motivated with ability to meet deadlines and ensure quality in every aspect of assigned work.
* Good organizational and project management skills.
* Ability to manage/balance multiple priorities.
Travel Requirements:
* Up to 15%, with potential for international travel
