Job description

Venom Baseball of Illinois is looking for a Head Baseball Coach for our 12U Travel Baseball Team
We are looking for baseball OR softball players who can teach effectively by educating and demonstrating. Who can motivate players to want to work hard not only at practice and games but on their own in training while on their off days.
You do not necessarily have had to play at the college level to be qualiified, but it is preferred. We want coaches (male or female) with vast experience in playing, coaching / instructing, etc, and a solid background of the nuances of the game. Our best fits have been those who have graduated recently or have experience in coaching travel for a while.
The same thing goes for our trainers. The experience and skill of teaching in a way that fits our culture is imperative.
Head Coach must fully manage the team and delegate certain tasks to assistants. Assistant Coaches can also take on any of these tasks.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Recruiting players; attending tryouts; making game & tournament schedules. This means connecting directly with leagues, park districts, official finders, other teams etc. Head Coach must also create a set schedule for practices (other than winter training, which will be set up by ownership.
Off season training is led by instructors from the National School of Baseball and Softball, however attendance by Head Coaches is mandatory! Instructors teach pitching, hitting, catcher position, fielding & running.
All coaches must learn our pitching, hitting & catcher mechanics. What we teach is pro lovel. We do not want any of that changed. These mechanics must be reinforced in practices & games. They cannot stray from how we teach these facets of the game.
Our coaches are held to a very high standard of TEACHING the game. Winning, although certainly the objective, is not the most important goal. The improvement, growth and welfare of the player are our main objectives. We want each player to get better every day. We want them to be able to actualize their full potential. We strive for great team comradery and unity.
We have several zero tolerance policies that are in a contract that must be signed. Some of those are: NO yelling, screaming, demeaning or degrading a player. No favoritism. Following our pitch count guidelines and managing a pitching staff effectively. NO screaming or arguing with opposing coaches or umpires. Protecting players at all costs. Teaching and demonstrating Sportsmanship at all times.
Coach MUST live local to be able to travel to facility, practice fields, games and tournaments.
A face to face interview or two will be conducted before hiring. All potential Head Coaches will be thoroughly vetted and must not only have a resume of their experience, but at least two letters of recommendations and 3 references that we can contact.
