POSITION OVERVIEW
dormakaba is seeking a Compliance Counsel to join our Legal team based in Indianapolis, IN. This position is responsible for building up and implementing compliance systems, processes, templates, and tools in the Americas that defines, establishes, and supervises adherence to legal requirements and Group Compliance guidelines and standards to provide employees in the Americas a transparent framework for actions in their daily business.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive Group compliance system in the Americas that is constantly adapted to a changing business environment and incorporates learnings from real cases
  • Develops standardized processes, procedures, and templates in the Americas to (1) assist in dormakaba efforts to remain in compliance, (2) make it both clearer and easier to comply with code of conduct and legal requirements, and (3) perform compliance investigations and audits
  • Responsible for development and implementation of the Compliance Programs in collaboration with Segment Finance, Legal and HR Leadership/supporting dormakaba's initiative to help drive a robust performance culture and high employee engagement
  • Provides legal counsel on company policy, various laws (including labor and employment, data privacy and security, competition law, anti-corruption) and provides investigative expertise across the segment to ensure neutrality in investigations, consistency & quality in processes and documentation to support better outcomes
  • Leads committee of compliance personnel in the Americas

REQUIREMENTS

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Admission to a State Bar of any jurisdiction in the United States and licensed to practice in Indiana (or admitted to the Indiana Bar within a reasonable time following the commencement of the position)
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • In-house experience in a compliance role is a clear advantage
  • Experience handling investigations, audits, and employee relation issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, must be able to relate complex concepts in a concise and easy to understand manner
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
