Who we want
The People Manager will be the company's first People leader and will define, manage, and lead Lilt's people strategy and practices - providing an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, productivity, goal attainment, as well as the recruitment and ongoing development of a best in class workforce. The ideal candidate will be a "hands on'' leader who is able to build out infrastructure while executing day-to-day responsibilities. The candidate will have experience supporting business needs and ensuring the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives. This role will partner cross-functionally across the organization and work closely with the global leadership team members. The role will have a significant organization and cultural impact by managing all recruiting and staffing, benefits, compensation, employee relations, performance management, succession planning, compliance, employee learning and development, and human resource information database systems for Lilt.
This position reports directly to the VP of Finance in San Francisco. This position will be based out of our Indianapolis office. This role will work remotely from Indianapolis during the pandemic, but will be expected to work in the office once it is safe to do so.
What you'll do
* Support management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions.
* Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
* Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
* Take a consultative approach to partnering with management to provide people advice and counsel and support decisions; guide management and employee actions by communicating and enforcing values
* Drive company wide initiatives to increase employee engagement and productivity by rewarding and recognizing value.
* Experiment with new ways for People function to seize organizational opportunities that result in unique and differentiated solutions.
* Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
* Maintain, in conjunction with Finance, a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
* Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
* Maintain employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
* Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; advising management on needed actions.
* Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
* Maintain historical human resources records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
* Accomplish special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
* Supervise the staff of the human resource and recruiting department.
Experience
* 5-8 years of human resource experience and/or specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations
* 2-4 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Labor Relations, or Business
* Professional HR certification
* Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement
* Possess ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful companies and organizations that practice effective People Operations Management
* Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
