Job description

Scope of Position

Engineer supports plant operations and Engineering capital projects through management of plant DCS and HMI systems as well as electrical capital project management. Also supports long-term strategy, plant troubleshooting, and standardization efforts.


Basic Function

· Manage and support electrical and controls capital jobs. Work with project managers and E&I Technician to develop controls strategies and implement/commission in the plant. Work with cross-departmental teams to deliver objectives according to schedule and budget requirements.

· Design new programs in OPTO22 DCS and new Citect/Ignition HMI screens as needed. Maintain and modify existing as needed.

· Work with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and Contractors to troubleshoot all DCS and HMI systems.

Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain AutoCAD electrical and controls drawings of plant. Ensure electrical map is updated as changes are made to the facility.

· Advise on plant electrical issues and infrastructure.

· Identify and facilitate testing of new instrumentation, controls equipment, hardware, and software technologies for use in the facility.

· Develop long-term controls strategy, drive projects to implement.

  • Train and develop additional relevant employees (technicians and operators) on troubleshooting, calibration, and operation of control systems and components. Develop training documentation and work instructions as needed.
  • Responsible for vetting solutions prior to implementation and implementing live in plant.

· Part of daily plant operations team. Will be on-call to support plant controls issues.

· Follow and Carryout GMP and Food Safety policies. Report any deviations to management.

Qualifications

Requirements

Educational and Experience Requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

· 3-5 years of field experience in chemical/food manufacturing preferred

Covid Vaccination required


Other:

· Knowledge of DCS controls, programming logic, and HMI systems. OPTO22/Ignition preferred.

· Knowledge of PLC controls and programming logic. A/B RSLogix software preferred.

· Strong skills in AutoCAD.

· Able to advise on electrical systems and infrastructure.

· Python programming language preferred.

  • Project management experience.
  • Basic knowledge of 4-20mA controls wiring preferred.
  • Experience with flow meters, pressure indicators, conductivity and pH meters, level indicators, temperature sensors, control valves, and other standard chemical processing instrumentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

· Computer skills including Windows, Word, and Excel. SAP a plus.

· Good oral and written communication skills.
