Chief Executive Officer

Grant-Blackford Mental Health Inc.

Grant-Blackford Mental Health Inc. is a non-profit, United Way participating agency with locations in Marion, Indiana and Hartford City, Indiana. The agency provides mental health and substance abuse services to persons of all ages both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The center operates twenty-one sites in this two-county area. It's history with outpatient treatment dates back as early as 1950 and has been operating its flagship location, Cornerstone Behavioral Health, since 1975. With annual operating revenues of nearly 11 Million, Grant-Blackford employs 170 people and serves over 3000 outpatients and 600 inpatients annually.

The successful candidate is a dynamic and innovative leader in the behavioral health field who will provide strategic leadership and direction and will oversee the delivery of quality behavioral healthcare services through the effective management of fiscal, human resources, information, and program management. The successful candidate must be a highly effective collaborator who can work with a diverse constituency including elected officials, consumers, family members, and advocacy groups in the mental health services area and related human services fields. This position is directly accountable and responsible to the Grant-Blackford Board of Directors.

The CEO candidate's qualifications include:

  • Documented background in behavioral health program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, and performance improvement methodologies/processes.
  • Seeking new funding sources including grant writing and management.
  • Coordinating the agency funds and development activities.
  • Proven hands‐on, entrepreneurial manager with vision, who will provide strategic and tactical leadership with a minimum of five years of experience in a senior management role in a behavioral healthcare organization or an organization with functions and responsibilities comparable to a community mental health organization which provides clinical services.
  • Familiarity and success within Joint Commission reviewed facilities
  • Overseeing contractual agreements with other organizations engaged in providing a wide range of mental health services to residents of Grant and Blackford counties.
  • Working knowledge of administrative and management principles and practices of behavioral health administration, business administration, or government program administration.
  • Considerable experience in financial management, including budgeting, resource allocation, monitoring, auditing, policy formulation and implementation and administration.
  • Experience in interpreting, communicating, and administering federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies involving the operation of programs and services for persons with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Effective communicator with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Leader and ambassador who is a natural at enhancing business relationships and engendering passion for Grant-Blackford mission. Skilled at collaboration and consensus building with all levels of a constituency.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving organizational objectives through proactive leadership and management of the staff and maintaining close working relationships with the Board of Directors.

Additional Requirements:

  • Master's degree in hospital administration, business, social work, psychology, or other behavioral health‐related fields with recent work as a behavioral health executive.
  • Advanced knowledge of state and federal regulations and various accreditation requirements related to behavioral health services management.
  • Current licensure as a mental health professional preferred. (LMHC, LCAC)
