BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as an Immigration Specialist for our PDS North America locations. The position can be located at one of our Indiana locations (Noblesville or Kokomo) or our Auburn Hills, Michigan location.
In this role, and under the direct supervision of the ITC Human Resources Manager with a dotted-line reporting relationship to Corporate Global Mobility, the Immigration Specialist will be primarily responsible for overall coordination of the immigration program and acts as the primary point of contact for hiring managers, HR business partners, and foreign nationals to provide direction and guidance on viable immigration avenues for employment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Works directly with candidates, line managers and local HR business partners, and outside immigration counsel in preparing appropriate U.S immigration cases and documentation.
- Partners with local recruiter team to provide guidance on hiring decisions affecting candidates requiring immigration support and work visa approvals.
- Coordinates all required immigration postings, labor market tests, tracking and files involved with the immigration process. Prepares and submits forms in support of various immigrant and non-immigrant petitions.
- Provides a high level of service and consultation to all immigration inquiries regarding status updates, next steps, travel protocol and filing strategy
- Develops, improve and maintains tracking tools for critical data points on all immigration cases to support business needs.
- Provides reporting and analyzes data to synthesize insights and shares out findings regularly to support North American HR strategy.
- Provides pro-actively information and consultation to line managers and local HR business partners including information related to changes in immigration policies.
- Acts as a liaison with external counsel and the candidates, leaders, associates, Legal, and HR.
- Close collaboration with BU HR leadership and Corporate Mobility team
- Manages the immigration program budget and invoices.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties and responsibilities.
- Support ITC special events and activities.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Safety and Health - Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related discipline required.
- Minimum 5 years' of related work experience with increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability in a broad range of Human Resources functions such as immigration, recruiting, performance management, employee relations, learning and development, etc.
- Proactive, decisive and able to work independently on a broad variety of subjects.
- Strong detailed orientation and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, which includes ability to remain objective and use discretion in all situations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Resourceful, with a problem-solving aptitude, and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly collaborative and team oriented, able to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Workday or other talent management software experience.
- High proficiency in MSOffice, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
