  • Purpose of Job
    • Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, assembles, labels and prepares all reusable trays and equipment.

    • Education
      • High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent required.
    • Experience
      • No experience required, however, knowledge of instrumentation preferred.
      • Requires high level of initiative in the instrumentation and processing environment.
    • License/Certifications
      • Central Service Technician (CST) certificate preferred.
    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Must be able to work with a wide variety of groups.
      • Skilled in promoting positive relations when interacting with patients or other customers.

      • Cleans, disinfects, assembles, labels and prepares all reusable trays and equipment.
        • Processes equipment, accurately assembles, labels and prepares for next use, according to established procedures, manufacturer's recommendations and regulatory policies.
      • Cleans and maintains equipment, solutions and products.
        • Cleans and maintains equipment, solutions and products according to manufacturer's recommendations and department policies.
      • Assists in the cleaning of surgical instruments.
        • Instruments must be washed in clean up area with disinfectant and in sonic washer according to procedure manual.
      • Logs, labels items and supplies, loads and monitors sterilizer.
        • Itemizes each load, accurately labels each item, properly loads sterilizer.
        • Examines gauges and recording charts at beginning and conclusion of each cycle, to verify adequate sterilization.
      • Utilizes biological and chemical indicators.
        • Inserts chemical indicators in each package to be sterilized.
        • Performs a biological indicator test daily and with each load containing implantable items.
        • Performs a Bowie Dick test daily.
      • Checks equipment in and out and issues sterile trays and supplies.
        • Records accurately, when and where equipment is issued and when it is returned.
        • Promptly notify Bio-Med Department of any malfunctioning equipment and ascertains that autoclave tape shows sterility before dispensing.
        • Checks expiration dates of medications, disposable procedure trays and other supplies as applicable.
      • Performs all other duties as assigned by Team Leader.
        • Aligns related needs with effective solutions.
      • Takes initiative during lag times to keep supplies and instruments restocked and/or sterilized.
        • Confer with manager if necessary for additional duties to keep office running in an orderly and efficient manner.
    • Essential Functions II
      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
      • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Compassionate Care/AIDET and company policies/procedures.
      • Other duties as assigned.
