Summary of Position
*Compensation $70,000/yr base (plus first year training bonus and car allowance training bonus replaced by commissions yr 2)
The Produce Business Development Manager will have both an active sales plan and provide strategic focus to develop CCF's National and Regional new business footprint for retail produce. The position will be responsible for creatively identifying and acquiring new customers both on the National or Regional level in difficult economic climate. The position will have experience working with corporate leaders to understand how CCF can solve their needs and assist in growing their business. Retail experience in food or produce is 'highly' preferred.
This position will work closely with the Sales Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing to keep opportunities in the pipeline alive and advancing by identifying and creating national/regional strategies and connecting the customer need to the company's offerings. The position works closely with the Sales and Operations group in on-boarding new customers. This is a customer facing role.
THE OPPORTUNITY - The right person in this position:
· Responsible for growing the CCF client/customer base by developing qualified business
opportunities within our business territory (~50% of time)
· Responsible for identifying and developing strategic sales concepts, implementing and
executing with both existing customers and new prospects (~50% of time)
· Responsible for growing the CCF customer base by developing qualified business
opportunities within our business territory
· Develop relationships with high-level decision-makers at regional and national retailers
· Establish relationships with industry leaders
· Maintain appropriate customer meeting activity levels to achieve goals
· Maintain high level of information flow within Salesforce CRM including customer contacts,
new opportunities, updates to existing opportunities, etc.
· Partner in analyzing market data to determine growth opportunities and suggest potential
targets to fill the top of the sales funnel
· Schedule and hold qualifying meetings to deliver sales presentations and close profitable
new business
· Collaborate with all departments, including, but not limited to: Produce Account Executive
Team, Operations and Finance to ensure a successful transition from prospect to customer
following the company's 'new account' on-boarding best practices
· Appropriately transition new accounts from Business Development to the Customer
Retention Team following CCF best practices
· Represent CCF at various industry functions
· Significantly impacts the growth and development of National & Regional CCF business
· Lead a segment that drives and impacts the company's revenue.
Qualifications

· Innovative thinker
· Experience prospecting and selling directly to large retail accounts
· Proven track record of developing markets and new clients - as an on-the-road sales
person in national and regional markets
· Experience developing and delivering presentations to large and small groups
· Track record of working with upper level management
· Experience in developing strategic initiatives and converting them to business strategies
and plans
· Experience using a CRM program
· Experience working with internal and external customers and reporting progress on a
regular basis
· 5 years 'Hunting' experience
· 5 years' experience in New Business Development prospecting National/Regional retailer
· Have a hands-on management style
· Anticipated base hours per week: 45-55 / 60% of time traveling
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree
· Minimum 5 years job experience
· Minimum 3 years supervising direct reports
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
· Related-industry experience beneficial - produce distribution, agriculture, food service, or
grocery
· Valid Driver's License
Compensation and Benefits
$70,000 per year base pay (first year training bonus and car allowance - commission replaces training bonus yr 2).
